Christmas at the
Boston Metro Hi-Railers
'Twas the Night Before Christmas in our Club house
by L Ralph Grabowski,
Chief Lionel Engineer
'Twas the night
before Christmas in our Club house thorough
not a Choo-Choo was stirring, not even a Burro
Our Members were nestled all snug in their chairs,
with dreams that a Big Boy soon would be theirs
I with my camera and Official Club cap;
Carolan's nodding off for a nap
Train orders hung
on the scenery with care
In hopes that Santa Fe soon will be there
When out on the
Main Line we heard such a clatter,
I flew from the fiddle yard to see what's the matter
Across the
trestle; clickety-clack
Santa Fe is coming back
War Bonnet paint scheme; colors galore
How could a little boy wish for more?
Our Members are
pulling Santa Fe's train
with 18 volts and a Lionel Crane
Now Trevor! Now Erick!
Their engines run so quick
Dash away Dr. Bob in
his detailed Beemer
We opened some presents and fired up a steamer
Now Bob, Bob, and Bobby!
Mike, Mike, Al, and Al
Our Members all male;
not one single gal!
Now Bill! Now David!
On Andy and Richard!
On Dennis! On Chris!
It's Christmas train bliss.
On Lew! On
Carl! On Earl! On Jim!
Now Robert and our Ernie slim!
More members; that is not all
Dash away John, Burt, and Paul
We're waiting for Wayne
to come run his train
And then, in a
twinkling, I heard on the tracks
the growl from post-war F3 stacks
Signalling his
horn; 'ere drove out of sight,
"Big Boys to all, and to all a good night!"
